- Derek and the Dominos: In 1970, Clapton formed Derek and the Dominos with Duane Allman, Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle, and Jim Gordon. The band released only one album, "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs," but it is considered a classic of rock music. The band broke up in 1971 after Allman's death in a motorcycle accident.
