The lead singer of Simply Red is Mick Hucknall.
Mick Hucknall was born in Manchester, England, on 8 June 1960. He is a singer, songwriter, and musician who is best known as the lead singer and frontman of the soul-pop band Simply Red. The band was formed in 1984 and released their debut album, Picture Book, in 1985. The album was a commercial success, and the band went on to release ten more studio albums, as well as several live albums and compilation albums. Simply Red has sold over 50 million albums worldwide, making them one of the best-selling British bands of all time.
Hucknall is the only original member of Simply Red, and he has written or co-written most of the band's songs. He is known for his distinctive vocals, which have been compared to those of soul singers such as Otis Redding and Sam Cooke. Hucknall is also a skilled harmonica player.
In addition to his work with Simply Red, Hucknall has also released three solo albums. He has also worked as a film composer, and he has written a memoir, Holding Back the Years.
